Unfortunately, the end of our amazing round trip was in sight and in this blog I will take you through the final days in Mauritius!

Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark

The final day in our third hotel had arrived, luckily we still had one more hotel and 5 full days to go…Marvellous! With a touch of melancholy we got into the car to leave hotel Lux le Morne behind us. We were waved off by the entire staff. How welcome we had felt. On to the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita via the Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark. This unique volcanic geological phenomenon is world-famous for its seven different colours of earth. It is truly spectacular to see. This is definitely highly recommended as a group activity. Chamarel is situated 283 metres above sea level and can only be reached via a scenic route. This route winds through a beautiful tropical forest and offers many stunning views. However, my favourite was the 83-metre-high waterfall!

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita

The distance from one hotel to the other was only 85 kilometres, but we would still need at least two hours to cover this distance. The roads are narrow and there are always a lot of people about in the villages. Including the stop at Chamarel, we arrived at the Four Seasons hotel three hours later. This hotel is magical; the driveway up to it, the planting, the grounds, the location, the reception… truly everything is wonderful!

We had booked a three-bedroom villa, but we were upgraded to a four-bedroom villa, including a private swimming pool. All the villas have a wonderful view, have a private swimming pool and are fantastically decorated. You truly lack nothing here. The grounds are marvellous; lovely bridges connect the various small islands to a central island where the reception and the restaurants are located (all of which are fantastic, by the way).

Lunch on Bounty Island, catamaran trip and monkey spotting!

These last five days have been all about relaxation. We did visit another five hotels, and on this side of Mauritius too, hotels can be found for every budget! We can also fit an incentive trip here into any price range. Naturally, an incentive trip to Africa cannot be compared to an incentive trip within Europe in terms of budget, but I should think that goes without saying.

What else did we have scheduled for activities? A lunch on a private beach across from the Four Seasons. For this, we were picked up by speedboats and ended up on a bounty island with just one restaurant. Toes in the sand and being thoroughly pampered with the most delicious dishes and top-notch service (a super activity for a group).

Furthermore, we spent a day at sea (on a catamaran) to spot flying fish and monkeys. We saw monkeys with their young... what lovely, inquisitive and intelligent animals they are. We also saw a wondrous waterfall and, of course, took a dip in the water to snorkel. During the boat trip, we also visited a small island where fierce battles were fought to defend it, and we followed in the footsteps of many Englishmen who had set foot ashore here.

The lunch was prepared by a chef and once again we couldn't believe our eyes at everything he had prepared: fresh fish and chicken from the barbecue and of course fresh lobster again. All of this is present in abundance in the sea (except for the chicken, of course).

Thus this trip came to an end at its peak. The return flight with Air Mauritius to Paris and the flight from Paris to Amsterdam with KLM were fantastic once again. What wonderful days we've had, but above all it was super to meet (new and current) suppliers again. Once again, South Africa and Mauritius experienced very stormy weather during the corona crisis. The government there contributed nothing or barely anything to the population.

Fortunately the sun is shining (again) and they have managed to pull themselves together. However, the wounds and scars of that crisis are clearly visible. And that is likely to remain the case for some time... In any case, we have contributed, and will contribute again in the future, to the recovery, given the number of groups that will be going there next year. Deep respect for the local people there.“Heads up and go”, is what they keep saying there!

Want to organise an amazing group trip to South Africa & Mauritius too? Be sure to contact us then!
