Mainly during the time when, after my studies, I spent 6 years leading world tours with Americans. I would travel around the world with a group for about 3 months, be home for a week, and then set off again. What was then still West and East Germany weren't always on the itinerary of a 3-month world tour, but in those 6 years I still went there at least 10 times or so.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was always impressed once again by the wall between East and West, and in particular between East and West Berlin. Yes, I am still from the era when there were walls between European countries and cities. Much has changed in the meantime. You can no longer climb onto the wall to look at the other side, and there are no heavily guarded border crossings anymore. And a good thing too.<\/span><\/p>\n
