An anniversary trip to Rome: these five insights make all the difference
For our company's twentieth anniversary, we were tasked with organising a jubilee trip to Rome. The wish? A relaxing trip that felt like a reward. Where colleagues, accompanied by their partners, could fully enjoy themselves and experience Rome as it was meant to be experienced. From a hidden courtyard to a selfie at the Trevi Fountain: this jubilee trip had just the right mix of relaxation, experience, and connection.
Do you want to know how to make an anniversary trip unforgettable? We share some insights from this trip that make a difference, without it having to be grand or complicated.

Let the location do the work
Rome needs little to impress. That's precisely why it's a smart choice to opt for accommodation that suits the group well. We didn't go for an over-the-top five-star hotel, but chose to stay in a prime location right in the heart of the city. This way, you can be on the Spanish Steps with a cappuccino in no time, or stroll to a local restaurant in the evening without any trouble. Our tip: choose a central spot that truly captures the city's atmosphere. In Rome, that meant: warm, characterful, and within walking distance of everything you want to experience.
2. Why bringing in partners was a masterstroke
On this trip, partners were welcome to join. And that gave the entire programme a different dynamic. Colleagues got to know each other's home situations, conversations became more personal, and the atmosphere became more relaxed. It requires a little more attention during planning, but it often results in a more cohesive whole. And that's ultimately what a jubilee is all about.
3. Activate the gut feeling
An anniversary trip doesn't just begin at the destination. The anticipation is at least as important. Think of Italian flags in the office, a personalised invitation, or, as we did here, coming up with a Roman nickname for each colleague. The client took the lead, we helped along. And it worked perfectly: the tone had been set weeks before departure. Keep it playful. The more accessible the preparation feels, the greater the engagement.
4. Leave room for surprise
Often, magic is in the details and surprises. During the successful Fiat 500 tour, we arranged for each car to be fitted with a jubilee logo. No one knew about it beforehand, which made the surprise all the greater. Precisely the kind of moment that leads to a photo which eventually ends up on the noticeboard or intranet. It's always nice to hold something back. Not everything needs to be on the agenda beforehand. It’s the unexpected that makes it memorable.
5. Consider accessibility
For some participants, this anniversary trip to Rome was truly a golden opportunity. Not everyone flies regularly or dines on rooftop terraces with views of ancient domes. That realisation helps when making choices. That's precisely why we paid extra attention to clear communication, special dietary requirements, and personal guidance. Because if you want everyone to feel seen, you have to show that you've considered them.
