St Nicholas festival at Woerden Castle
One organise an event is one of the specialisms of goMICE. And this time we were allowed to organise a very special event indeed: the annual Sinterklaas celebration for one of our clients. With 60 kids and 75 parents, it was a lively and busy affair. It was up to us to put a smile on the faces of all 60 children! Now, with children that is usually not so difficult, but still, we secretly found it a bit exciting. After all, we normally organise events for a completely different audience.
An event at Woerden Castle
We loved getting back into the skin of a child and looking through their eyes. What should a good St Nicholas celebration look like, what is important and what is less so? We quickly had everything sorted out, it had to take place in a special locaYes, there had to be plenty to eat and drink, beautiful presents had to be selected, there needed to be entertainment and, of course, Sinterklaas had to honour this location with a visit.

We arrived early at the magnificent Woerden Castle and ensured that all the presents were tied to helium balloons. The entertainment and children's disco knocked on the door early in the day, and not much later we had everything prepared down to the last detail. Always nice! Around 10:30, the first parents trickled in, accompanied by various little Piets with eager faces. Outside, our acrobat Piets were walking around to guide guests from the car park.
High visit from Sinterklaas and his Zwarte Pieten
Around 11:30, the party erupted with a super cool show. There was dancing, singing, and eating of sweets, and then the moment had finally arrived: the arrival of Sinterklaas and his Piets! Sinterklaas and his Piets had made time especially for us to drop by and talk to all the children. Meanwhile, Nadia and I enjoyed all the cheerful little faces!
Slowly it was time to hand out the presents, the children could hardly wait any longer. The one ohhh and ahhh followed the other one. The kids shouted happily: “I wanted that one so badly”. Yes, we had done our utmost to inform the good Saint perfectly about the wishes of these dear children.
The children were rewarded with the presents and the parents were grateful that their employer had been willing to organise this for them.
After all this excitement, it was time to thoroughly enjoy some delicious pancakes in the restaurant.
An unforgettable day!
The guests found it unforgettable, so many of them said. For us it was also unforgettable and we are proud that we were allowed to organise this! Project Manager Lotte played a major role in the entire organisation! Thanks to the great collaboration and handover within our team, we were able to execute the event successfully!
