The Superhero event at Studio's Aalsmeer
Friday 2 February finally saw the long-awaited event: the annual event of our regular client took place. Last year we organised this event completely in après-ski style, this time with the theme: Superheroes, featuring no fewer than 550 guests.
The primary goal of this event was the transfer of information, but also to engage the company's employees and further optimise the connection between head office and operations. On the one hand, therefore, an event with a very important plenary section, followed by delicious food, a unique party and various performances.
The final preparations: dotting the i's and crossing the t's!
When the request came in, we were immediately extremely enthusiastic about the superhero theme. How wonderful would it be to welcome this company's superheroes completely in style? Of course, the theme had to be carried through the entire day: from arrival to departure.
Together with the contact persons, we map out the broad outlines and then the real preparation begins to make it another unforgettable afternoon and evening.
You name it and we managed to realise it. For instance, we were looking for a surprise in the form of life-sized dolls (superheroes). Unfortunately, our regular suppliers were unable to supply these. But giving up was not an option, certainly not for this client's goMICE project manager: Nadia. Two weeks before the start of the event, success was achieved. She found the perfect life-sized superhero dolls and luckily they were still available. Now we really couldn't wait for the event to begin!
An event organised in Studio’s Aalsmeer
This time the event took place at Studio's Aalsmeer. We selected this location because it had the exact look and feel we were looking for to match the theme. Futuristic, modern and atmospheric. We at goMICE (Nadia, Lotte and I) naturally had to walk around in superhero style too, so we put on our Batwoman jumpers.
Welcome Superheroes!
By around 16:00, the first heroes were already trickling in and were provided with a nice refreshing drink, entirely in superhero style. The guests had to wait patiently for a little while longer because the main theatre hall was not yet open. After all, the reception was actually scheduled from 17:00 onwards. Guests came from all over the Netherlands, so no one took any chances of being late. Fortunately, they amused themselves well by taking photos in the foyer, where Superman, among others, was set up.
Our Iron Man was also very well received. He scanned the invitations and posed for photos with everyone who wanted to. This was a great way to pass the time.
Meanwhile, we are carrying out the final work in the plenary hall, together with the contact persons. At 17:10 sharp, we requested the people (almost all dressed as superheroes) to come to the hall.
The presentations during the plenary session
They didn't know what hit them... and even less so when the presentations started. Through a spectacular animated film, the superheroes were guided through the plenary session, interspersed with a few speakers.
The huge LED screens and the immersive sound did their job. Impressive, every single time in this venue. The tech crew managed to organise everything perfectly on schedule. They're absolute legends!
By using this regular technical supplier and StudioAalsmeer, everything went precisely according to plan. The speakers felt confident, relaxed and the whole thing came across very naturally: we hadn't dedicated two days to practising for nothing. Consequently, they hardly needed the confidence monitor. The superheroes were constantly praised for their results, but there was also some critical feedback. That's all part of it.
Eating superfood!
At the end of the presentations, a fittingly festive song was started, performed by Iron Man and another superhero. Iron Man had the effect we wanted: the roof was blown off! The show by these superheroes ensured that people left the room partying and dancing, on their way to the extremely delicious buffets with superhero food. The buffets were a huge hit and soon we saw everyone enjoying their food, ranging from a hamburger to a pizza and noodle buffet.
The Big Apple
Soon we opened the third room (The Big Apple), a room that was very surprising to everyone. You stepped, as it were, into a Batman film scene, complete with the Brooklyn Bridge, various superhero dolls, cobwebs, bats and, above all, brilliantly cool music.
Party time!
Our resident DJ kicked off the party and after an hour Stef Ekkel performed (there was a strong preference for Dutch-language music among these superheroes). None other than DJ Jean closed the party. What a party and how it went off! And the images below certainly prove that it went off!
When I think back on it, it just gives me goosebumps all over again. Everything turned out more than excellently. We wrapped up the event while enjoying a hot dog. Tired but satisfied, we waved everyone goodbye.
Looking back at a great event
What a lot of work Project Manager Nadia has put into the preparation: that has been an incredible amount, but when you see the result again then you can be proud. I am very proud of the superheroes of goMICE anyway: Nadia and Lotte! View even more great photos of the event in three minutes:
