Behind the scenes at the television recordings for RTL Z
A while ago we were approached by a television producer to contribute to a business-related television broadcast. Somewhat surprised, we took it under consideration and asked ourselves the question: “Can we captivate viewers in a TV programme with goMICE?”. It is no small thing; seeing your company and yourself on national television. Ah well, we are proud of our company, the unique incentive trips we organise, and of course we would love to share this with the rest of the Netherlands. So… yes! We were just going to do it. Not a programme lasting hours (who knows in the future?), but around 5 minutes, short and sweet, so that it stays interesting and fun for the viewer.
Let's get acquainted
Friday 11 May was finally the day. At 10:00, the film crew reported downstairs at reception. I went down to collect them and was pleased to see they were approachable and experienced people. Great!
Once upstairs, in our office on the third floor, they looked their eyes out. At our office, but especially at the impressive view. It was wonderfully clear weather and this provided lovely pictures of the view over the Meuse: ideal for filming!
Over a nice cup of cappuccino, we went through the content of the programme one last time. What is going to happen, what are each other's wishes and what do we need to pay attention to, in other words: the ground rules? Fortunately, the crew knew how to put us at ease, because there was a lot to think about and there was indeed a slight tension in the air...

…and… ACTION!
Some rules of the game were: no advertising during the broadcast, not speaking in the you/we/us form and absolutely not mentioning the company name. Why all those requirements, you might think? This is in connection with the media act. And that is particularly tricky, I can tell you. We are so used to talking with pride about our company and our project managers that you easily slip up a few times during the interview. Fortunately without consequences; we just tried it again a few times.

Rob did very well and naturally. But he also found it difficult, he said afterwards. All in all, around 1:00 pm the director was satisfied and we could relax again. Together with the camera crew, we went up to the top floor on the 31st storey. Some more shots were taken both inside and outside here.

goMICE in the media business?
At 14:00 we said goodbye to the team and could go back to acting “normally, as usual”... At least, that's how it felt. The crew said we'd done well, but it still didn't feel that way. Completely out of our comfort zone....and no, it really wasn't for us. We're certainly never going into the TV business! ?
