5 tips for a special group or incentive trip to Milan
All of Milan
Yes! Milan is a versatile city! The most important city in Northern Italy, the city of fashion, style and architecture… but also a city brimming with culture, history and, of course, delicious food! I myself am a big fan of Italy and there is something new to discover in every region! What I find great about the Milanese region is that you can create a surprising combination of city, culture and nature: an ideal destination for a surprising group or incentive trip. And importantly… with the real dolce vita feeling! In this blog, I would like to give 5 tips for different experiences when visiting Italy's fashion and design city!
Discover the city and its highlights!
First of all, it is good to know that Milan has two official airports: Malpensa (45 km from the centre) and Linate (7 km from the centre). Depending on your group size, preferred airline and flight times, we will create a suitable flight schedule to make the most of your time in Milan.
The centre of Milan has beautiful highlights and hidden gems, and as in the rest of Italy, you can enjoy delicious food, drink, and good times. I'd love to share a few of goMICE's favourites!
- Discover the city centre: Take a walk through the city with our enthusiastic city guide, who will tell you all about the past, the present, and the vibrant fashion industry. Enjoy a gelato, discover the most charming streets, and in the late afternoon, settle down among the locals for a delicious aperitivo.
- City Game: Looking for a bit more excitement and sensation? Discover the city with an adventurous city game. A fun way of team-building where you'll immediately discover the most enjoyable spots in Milan.
- The DuomoIn the heart of the city stands Milan Cathedral (Duomo Santa Maria Nascente). This is a magnificent cathedral that you absolutely cannot miss, and due to its central location, you can't miss it even if you tried. On a clear day, the roof terrace offers a spectacular view over the city.
- Sforza Castle For art and culture lovers, Sforzesco Castle is certainly worth a visit. This 14theThis 15th-century castle is located in the old city centre and, due to its rich history, features many architectural styles and beautiful design. Here, you'll truly feel transported back to bygone eras.
- Italian CuisineJust like the rest of Italy, Milan offers a delightful culinary experience. Whether you're looking for a fine dining experience or want to make pizzas with your team, we know various charming, beautiful, and high-quality restaurants, sometimes just off the beaten track. A combination of a city walk with a street food tour or a wine tour is also a fun way to eat, drink and explore.

2: Study trip to Milan
We regularly organise tailored study or inspiration trips for companies looking to gain knowledge or inspiration from industry peers abroad. We have an extensive network and know many paths that lead to… well… Milan in this case. As a fashion capital, Milan possesses a wealth of knowledge in design, styling, and architecture. Furthermore, the Lombardy region (where Milan is located) specialises in textile production. Naturally, goMICE ensures that you meet the right contacts during your study trip and that you and your guests can enjoy yourselves to the fullest, without a care in the world.

3: Salone del Mobile
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile (also known as Milan Design Week) is an annual design fair that normally takes place in the spring in Milan (for 2021, this fair is scheduled for September). This fair attracts a large international audience of designers, interior architects, buyers, and enthusiasts of art, fashion, and lifestyle every year, who are on the lookout for the latest trends. Every two years, the EuroCucina and Salone del Bagno also take place, where the latest trends in kitchens and bathrooms are presented. The Salone del Mobile can also be perfectly combined with a visit to the city and for relaxed moments to strengthen your relationships.

4: Fashion and sport
Formula 1
Since the start of the official Formula 1 in 1950, Monza has been a permanent fixture on the competition's calendar. Monza is located approximately 20 kilometres north of Milan, making it the perfect complement to a visit to the city. Take your clients to Monza for an unforgettable Formula 1 experience in Italy. This can be for the entire weekend or just the final day. In any case, ensure you book in good time to guarantee the best seats. Do you have a mixed group with many ladies, or guests who would prefer to explore the city? Then consider a side programme for this group. goMICE will, of course, be happy to help you with this!
Football city Milan!
The big and well-known football clubs AC Milan and Internazionale are both based in Milan. Even when there are no Dutch clubs playing in Europe, or when our national team isn't heading that way for a year, it's worthwhile to combine a visit to this city with a match from one of these clubs. Both clubs play in the same stadium, where a stadium tour is also an option. Here too, we put together an alternative programme with great affection for the less football-minded amongst us!

5: Lake Maggiore
Naturally, Milan offers plenty of beauty and entertainment in and around the city. But would you like to include an extra surprising element in your trip? Then consider a combination with Lake Maggiore, which is located about a 2-hour drive north of the city. With a wide range of very high-quality hotels on the waterfront, a trip to Lake Maggiore offers an extra dimension to your stay. Enjoy a boat trip and admire the beautiful houses around the lake. Make a lunch stop at one of the waterfront restaurants and end your day with a drink on your hotel's terrace.
