A corporate event for 650 attendees in 80s style
On Friday 8th February, we organised a corporate event for one of our regular clients from the gas and oil industry. The event consisted of a plenary show, a dinner, and to finish, a spectacular party evening! More than 650 participants from all over the country were present. New this year: a spectacular award ceremony for those who performed best in 2018. The themes of previous editions were focused on Apres-ski And Superheroes. And this year, the theme chosen is: Back to the 80’s!
80s-themed corporate event
When you think of the 1980s, you quickly think of Walkmans, the Rubik's Cube, funky bright colours, Pac-Man, Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, and of course, the well-known 80s fashion. Our aim was therefore to transform the venue into an 80s mecca. It's always a fun challenge for goMICE to find the right decorations to match the venue and the size of the halls. This has been achieved again this year.
The overall picture was completed by the participants: every year they arrive dressed entirely to the theme. This year, for example, we saw Pac-Man costumes, disco wigs, and brightly coloured leggings. Prizes are also awarded annually for the best-dressed man and the best-dressed woman, so everyone puts in their best effort. Absolutely wonderful to see!

Visit at the location
At the beginning of January, we visited the preferred location together with the client. The event took place just five weeks later, a considerably shorter lead time than we are used to, but at the same time, a very exciting challenge! During the visit to the location, the client was immediately enthusiastic. This was partly due to the impressive projection screen, which made it possible to display the content for the plenary meeting in 3D!

Ready, steady, go!
From that moment on, preparations for the corporate event could begin, and everything moved at lightning speed. What needs to be arranged then, for example? A tremendous amount! We ensure that the client's wishes are realised and, where possible, their expectations are exceeded. It is important to think outside the box and surprise the client.
During the preliminary phase, we deal with many different parties and maintain contact with the client as well as various suppliers. Think of the location of the event but also of suppliers for, for example, goodies, gadgets, awards, decorations, technology, and entertainment. Everything must be coordinated. It is also important that services and products we hire are available on the date of the event, fit the event (theme), and stay within the set budget. Negotiation and coordination are the keywords here.

Organising a corporate event like this is a complex undertaking. But goMICE has a great deal of experience organising large corporate events. For this event too, they were able to organise everything down to the last detail. To our own satisfaction, but more importantly: to the great satisfaction of our client.
The day of the company event
The month of January flew by and Friday 8th February was the day: the day of the event! We arrived at the venue early that morning to welcome suppliers, conduct final checks, and ensure everything was perfect down to the last detail. By the time the first attendees arrived, we were ready and had also donned our 80s disco jackets.
Presenter Dennis Weening & DJ Paul Elstak ‘in the house’!
To ensure participants were entertained from start to finish, entertainment was used extensively.

Presenter Dennis Weening (known for TV programmes like Expeditie Robinson, So You Think You Can Dance, and Wie is de Mol, among others) thus opened the plenary show and presented the awards to the fortunate winners.

The revelry continued during dinner and the evening party. For example, there was dancing all evening on the large LED dance floor measuring no less than 60 m².

Also present were, among others, light dancers, table magicians, a trumpeter & saxophonist, VJ, laser show, CO2 cannons, giant balloons, GreenScreen and a VJ.

To top it all off, none other than DJ Paul Elstak opened the party!
The evening flew by, and as they headed home, participants left the party with a cool gadget in hand and a big smile on their face.

Hopefully see you again next year!
