Nadia the Project Manager's Week
Week 48 – 2017. Inside ‘the week of’ the Project Managers, or other team members, of goMICE share their (work) week in a new blog. This week you can watch and read along with the week of goMICE Project Manager Nadia!
Monday
An early start to the working week. At 07:20, Anita and I depart from Schiphol to visit three popular incentive destinations. Within two hours we have already arrived at our first destination and visit several hotels and restaurants that we frequently offer for our group trips. We consider it important to regularly test whether the restaurants and hotels still offer the quality that we as goMICE stand for. In the evening we fly on to our next destination, where very fine trips are planned again for 2018!
Tuesday
Because of the winter season, many hotels and restaurants are currently closed, but it is our job to look ‘beyond’ that. Are the hotels—some well-known, some new—suitable and do they meet our requirements so that we can offer them to our clients? Hotels often change certain elements during the winter period, such as rooms or public areas, which suddenly makes the hotel either suitable, or no longer suitable, for a certain group. After a successful morning visiting various hotels, it is time to make new appointments with our suppliers for various local activities again.
When evening has fallen, we can once again enjoy all the lovely restaurants in the neighbourhood. This evening we discovered another wonderful little gem, an exceptional location with history, where meat is grilled on large barbecues.
Wednesday
Already the final day of this inspection trip. In the morning, we depart for our third and final, sunny destination. On foot we clock up the necessary kilometres again, but it is certainly worth it! From various rooftops in the city we discover wonderful places and enjoy tasty bites and drinks, but above all we test all the dishes for quality and suitability. We then carefully put together menus, specifically for each target audience. At the end of the day, the inspection is over and we fly back to Schiphol.
Thursday
Back in the office, where we are starting with a brief meeting with the team to catch up on the past few days and exchange important news. After being away from the office for three days, all the information needs to be processed and I'm cracking on with my ongoing projects again, which means the day flies by super fast! Several more quotes are going out the door, ranging from winter sports trips to a training session or evening party. But quotes are also being confirmed, including one for an orchestra of 50 people taking a long-haul trip with all their instruments!
Friday
After the worst of the rush has been cleared on Thursday, we will make it another pleasant final day of the week together on Friday. However, this time my weekend does not start at the end of this Friday, because tomorrow we get to organise a lovely St Nicholas celebration for one of our clients!
Saturday
Our work often continues into the weekends too. At a stunning location, a castle in the middle of the country, today we have the privilege of welcoming Sinterklaas and his (circus) helpers. Around 60 children and their parents have come to Woerden to have a fun and cosy St Nicholas party to make.
There is plenty of singing and dancing and, of course, everyone enjoys eating plenty of pepernoten. After all the children have received a nice present from Sinterklaas, the event concludes with delicious pancakes.
It was a busy and intensive week, but certainly also a very lovely week! Now to recover for a bit and really start the weekend!
