Visiting Europe during the Corona Edition 2021 – Part 3: Monte Carlo
From the sweet life in Turin to luxurious Monte Carlo.
No Turin we set off early in the morning. We wanted to arrive in Monte Carlo on time because two of our sons' friends were flying into Nice and would arrive at the hotel in Monte Carlo around 1 PM, where we would be staying for two nights.
We actually rarely have breakfast at the hotel, we prefer authentic local spots. Besides, none of us are big breakfast eaters, so this time we had chosen to buy delicious fresh sandwiches, croissants and orange juice from the local bakery and eat and drink them in the car during the drive.
The destination for top-notch incentive travel
Last year We also spent a few nights in Monte Carlo. As this region has a lot to offer for very luxurious incentive trips, we wanted to visit a number of new and different partners this year than last year.
We stayed at the Fairmont hotel, with the amazing beach club on the rooftop: Nikki Beach. We love Nikki Beach; wherever you go in the world, this beach club is always an excellent choice.
Here at goMICE, we love to use Nikki Beach as a beach club for a delicious lunch or dinner. Success is guaranteed!

Culinary enjoyment amongst the celebrities
Our two days in Monte Carlo were packed with appointments, and we visited quite a number of hotels and restaurants. I would like to highlight two fantastic restaurants, which we also use for incentive trips at goMICE: Sass Café and Giraffe. The beauty of travelling extensively with goMICE or privately is that you occasionally come across celebrities. And the first evening at Sass Café was no different.
We've seen Cristiano Ronaldo, Armin van Buuren, Wesley Sneijder (and so on) choose Sass Café as their restaurant, and it wasn't for nothing. Sass really is a top-class restaurant every time. After a chat, we even managed to get a photo with him. I also happened to mention that the restaurant across the road, Twiga, is also a real winner, and he thanked me for the tip!
Having dined at many wonderful restaurants, Twiga is certainly in my top 10! The service, atmosphere, and dishes they create there time and time again are exceptional. Furthermore, Twiga is beautifully situated by the sea. Truly fantastic. This restaurant is also extremely suitable for groups looking to spoil their attendees. This is the place to be in Monte Carlo for, for example, a closing dinner with your clients or colleagues.

Flying with the CoronaCheck app
And then it was time to make arrangements for the next part of our journey. After two nights, we would be heading to Nice Airport for a flight to Barcelona and then to Ibiza.
We were going to fly for the first time with the Dutch CoronaCheck app and were curious to see how it would go. Only one person in our party was still travelling with a test, as they were not yet vaccinated, so we took a test at the hotel. We could easily arrange this through the concierge.
Tip: in the Netherlands, we have had our PCR tests carried out by JAR Care. They offer a top service, come to your home and offer the possibility to be tested by multiple people at the same time. Highly recommended!
Fortunately, he tested negative, so we could begin our journey towards Barcelona, but not before everyone had completed the SpTH health check for Spain. This was a form that was required at the time to travel to Spain. This form can be easily completed via the app in under five minutes. So, don't do it via the website, as that takes about 30 minutes per person.
How this part of the journey continued? More on this in my next blog!
