Organising a ‘green’ event in Frankfurt!

Thanks to our experience, we know what to look out for and what the pitfalls are when organising such an event.
Recently, we received an enquiry from a green electricity supplier. The client's requirements were clear. “We want to organise an event at a ‘green’ destination. It needs to be within driving distance of the Netherlands. There will be 200 people attending. During the day we would like to do a number of activities, and in the evening a big party.”.

Following internal consultation, we proposed three ‘green’ destinations to our client. One of the proposed cities was Frankfurt. Frankfurt is at the top of the list of sustainable cities in Europe and this was the perfect match for our client. Let’s go to Frankfurt!
Organising a green event, meticulously arranged by goMICE
We arranged the coach travel and around midday the party of 200 people departed by 4 coaches for Frankfurt. Frankfurt is a few hours‘ drive away and that makes you hungry! We knew a very suitable location ’en route' to stop for that day's evening meal. An organic and green farm, the Krewelshof, where you can eat deliciously.
And after dinner it was time to go shopping. After all, the Krewelshof sells all sorts of lovely organic products.
Things to do in Frankfurt
The next day it was time to undertake fun activities. We divided the group of 200 people into three groups. That day we organised three activities in Frankfurt.
- A cycling tour through the city, 100% green transport
- A GPS walking tour past beautiful sights
- A ride on the Ebbelwei. A special tram that takes a tour through the city centre
Following these activities, in the evening it was time for a big party. The highlight of the trip! Where do you organise such a party (for 200 people) in Frankfurt, you might wonder? We knew just how to handle that, especially since the theme was ‘Venetian Carnival’. The party had to take place in Frankfurt's former opera house: Alte Oper. We had a local caterer transform the room into a magnificent party venue.

Presentations and acts alternated during the gala evening at the Alte Oper. There were magnificent buffets laid out, which guests enjoyed in between. Finally, a DJ ensured the party went off with a bang!
Tired, but looking back on a fantastic party, the last guests headed back to the hotel. And we at goMICE did too, but not before we were sure everyone had found their hotel room again. The night was short, because at 12 noon the next day the coaches were ready again to drive back home.
Everyone on the bus, back home
It wasn't easy to get everyone onto the bus on time. Here and there, people were still sleeping off the night before! By going through all the rooms, we managed to get those late risers onto the bus after all and waved everyone off. It was great to see everyone getting onto the bus looking content. One perhaps a bit fitter than the other! It was a wonderfully successful event in Frankfurt, and fortunately our client thought so too!
