We have been noticing it for several years,incentivetrips to America are once again being booked more and more frequently. Often as a reward for a team achievement, as an anniversary or inspiration trip, to gain new ideas with colleagues or to visit a foreign branch.

This year, we at goMICE also have a number of groups scheduled to head to America. Our project managers have already guided a good number of groups to New York. Project manager Lotte has also written about one of these trips Blog written. This year, a number of incentive trips to New York are planned again.
Preparations
To destinations where we regularly organise group tours, we are on site at least once a year. This is to visit our suppliers and assess whether they are still delivering the intended quality. But it is also to work out specific details or wishes for a trip and to ensure that the tour runs according to plan. For example, we combined this inspection trip to visit suppliers in New York with a visit to Washington. This is because one client might also be interested in visiting Washington in combination with New York.
Washington as an incentive destination
In Washington it is fantastic to explore the city by bike with a group; in half a day you can see all the main sights.
If a group is going to New York, it is definitely worth starting in Washington and then getting on the train in the afternoon. This is very comfortable and a fun, original experience. You get off right in the centre of New York and we were walking into our hotel, the Knickerbocker, just round the corner from Times Square, within 10 minutes.
Restaurants in New York
We have contacts with many good restaurants where you can eat with large groups. To name a few favourites:
- Restaurant Vandal: hip and happening and the service is fantastic;
- Manhatta: fantastic views and incredible food. You'll find this restaurant at the top of a skyscraper just around the corner from Wall Street;
- Cecconi’s: this restaurant is located in Brooklyn by the river with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge;
- Martin’s Tavern: also Obama’s favourite restaurant in Washington. Informal and very cosy.
Incentive activities in New York
As for activities, we almost always suggest a bike tour of New York, which is highly recommended.
But also admission to the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Plaza) and if the budget stretches a bit further, a rib boat trip on the Hudson really is THE grand finale. What a thrill it is every single time. You speed along the rivers in the CNN rib boats with views of the skyline, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and everything else New York has to offer.
