Part 4: A trip around the world with Anita | Kauai
In my previous blogs, I already introduced you to our ‘round the world’ where we successively visited Japan, Hawaii and Vancouver. In this blog, I'll tell you more about Hawaii, and this time specifically about Kauai. Would you like to read my previous blogs that preceded this destination? Then click on one of the links below. Natural beauty on Kauai
It is practically impossible to describe the natural beauty of Kauai, but I will try anyway. The natural beauty of this island is so special because Kauai is dominated by a trade wind. This trade wind from the east also determines the amount of rain: the windward side of the islands is very rainy, while the leeward side is very dry. The temperature on this island is stable, by the way. So, in other words: even if you are walking in the rain, the temperature is always pleasant.
Activities in Kauai
Because of this scattered rainfall, the island has several unique landscapes. To explore these, we booked, among other things, a boat trip to admire the fantastic “Jurassic Park landscape” from the ocean. I think the photos speak for themselves! We also did a hike over the tops of those same mountains.

Spectacular hike on Kauai
You can also take a helicopter tour. On Big Island, we were already going to take a helicopter flight over a volcano (more on that later), so we were very curious about this hike. And in hindsight, we were very happy with it. Because what a hike that was! This was one of the most spectacular hikes I and my family have ever undertaken!

Our guide and regular partner there, Jeremiah from Kaua’i Hiking Tours, took us to trails that aren't on the tourist maps, offering an entirely different perspective on the island.

We had to get our act together, sometimes really vertically upwards, but the result was stunning! Also take a look at www.kauaihikingtours.com.
Jurassic Park landscape
Kauai is an island where you get the feeling that a T-Rex could suddenly emerge from the jungle. Or that you might come across a field full of long-necks. It's no wonder this island was actually used for the filming of the Jurassic Park movies.

Hotel on Kauai
And the hotel, I almost forgot to mention. It was a fantastic hotel with an equally stunning view. We stayed 3 nights on Kauai last summer.

And usually I say I don't want to go to the same destination again. But Kauai is definitely still on my bucket list even though I've been there now. I knew from the moment we were here that I wanted to come back!

So far, my report on Kauai. An island that has left a deep impression on me and my family. In my next blog, we travel further around Hawaii. In the meantime, if you would like more information about this or other destinations to your incentive travel contact met ons op Contact Meet us!
