We often do this with just our hand luggage, and we can safely say that we have now become experts at packing all the important things into a tiny travel suitcase. In this blog, we are therefore happy to share our best hand luggage tips with you, so that you too can travel care-free with just your hand luggage as a base for your clothing and accessories.

Cabin bags simply aren't that big, which is why you need to make clever use of the available space. There are also specific weight requirements, and by handling heavy clothing or accessories smartly, you can avoid having to check in your hand luggage after all. We have put together a number of practical tips to help you travel care-free with just your hand luggage.
Be choosy
Do you really need to bring four different outfits when you are only going away for a weekend? That extra pair of shoes, is that really necessary? And why would you bring your hairdryer when it hangs as standard in the bathroom in most hotels? Anyone going away with only hand luggage will have to be picky about what items are brought along. Therefore, carefully weigh up in advance which items are truly necessary and which things you can actually leave at home.
Travel in a thrown-together outfit
Your walking boots might not be the most comfortable to wear during a flight, but they are simply the heaviest and take up quite a bit of space in your hand luggage suitcase. A good reason to wear them while travelling after all, rather than them turning out to be too heavy at check-in. The same goes for thick/heavy items of clothing like jumpers and coats. Therefore, always wear layers if you are travelling with hand luggage only. After all, you can always take off items of clothing on the plane. To limit the weight of your travel suitcase, you could also choose to put heavier accessories such as adapters and cameras in your coat. That also saves on weight at check-in.
Different rules per airline
Airlines have divergent rules regarding hand luggage among themselves. What is allowed at KLM is strictly forbidden at Ryanair. It is therefore good to read up in advance. Liquids and ziplock bags
It is sometimes annoying that the rules regarding liquids have been tightened, but it is not all that bad. You are allowed to take 10 x 100 ml, which should really be enough for your shampoo, shower gel and toothpaste. You can also purchase any necessary products at your destination. Use testers and samples that you have collected over time to put the liquids in, or buy handy travel bottles that you can easily find in the supermarket or at the chemist's. To keep your liquids neatly together (and save time at security), you naturally put them in ziplock bags. These are those handy transparent bags that you can seal at the top. You can also buy these easily at the supermarket, chemist's or possibly Blokker.
Electronics last
Make sure you pack your iPad, laptop and/or camera last. After all, you have to present them separately at the security check, and this prevents you from having to rummage through your whole bag. Also make sure all your electronics are charged. In some countries, you may be asked to demonstrate that the equipment works.
