10 activities and sights in Berlin

10 activities and sights in Berlin

In my previous blog, I already wrote about Leipzig, a city often combined with a incentive– of inspirational trip to Berlin. Earlier I also wrote about a group that 3-day incentive trip to Berlin have gone. Because Berlin is such a popular incentive destination and we know Berlin very well, in this blog I have listed 10 sights and activities that we often suggest for a booked incentive trip to this city.

What makes Berlin special?

What makes Berlin so special, you might be thinking? To begin with, it is of course the capital of Germany. Back when I used to visit a lot, Bonn was still the capital of West Germany and East Berlin the capital of East Germany. So it is a very unique city because of its history, in which The Berlin Wall physically divided the city into two zones for about 28 years.

Following the Cold War and the reunification of the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, Berlin thus became the capital of Germany in 1990. The magnificent buildings dating from before the Second World War, combined with elements from the period of the division and the modern architecture of recent decades, make Berlin a city that is truly worth spending a few days in. Berlin is genuinely very hip and happening and it's buzzing! And perhaps you wouldn't expect it straight away, the groups that we see returning from Berlin are always wildly enthusiastic!

Berlin Wall

When you think of Berlin, you almost automatically think of the Berlin Wall. A 3.6-metre-high and over 45-kilometre-long concrete barrier between West and East Berlin. Following the Fall of the Wall in 1989, the structure was almost entirely demolished. In some places around the city, you can still find a small piece of the wall. The best place to see what the Wall looked like is at the East Side Gallery. Here, a 1,316-metre stretch of the wall still stands, which was painted in 1990 by 118 artists.

What you see now is a replica of the original guardhouse between the American and the Russian zone. You can complete your visit to this place by also visiting the adjacent Wall Museum, which is dedicated to the Wall.
