Winter incentive travel destination: Dubai highlighted!
Part 1: Currently, our MICE departments are primarily busy preparing and guiding various wonderful winter trips. You might immediately think of ski holidays, and yes, those are still very popular. Skiing with your organisation fosters great team spirit, sportsmanship and conviviality, and it also brings people together in a different way than a summer incentive. After all, skiing or snowboarding together offers a different dimension than being together on a catamaran in the sunshine. But besides ski holidays, we also have a large number of other (winter) destinations lined up. Think of Lapland and Iceland, but also further afield such as, South Africa in Asia. But let's also not forget Dubai! In this blog, I – Managing Director, Anita van Maanen – will highlight Dubai as a winter incentive travel destination!
Dubai: A World of Innovation
Dubai is always on the move, and we're moving with it! So we want and need to keep up with developments there at breakneck speed. Such as beautiful new restaurants, activities, and hotels. In addition, we have several requests lined up again for this top destination. I was fortunate enough to travel to my beloved destination, just a 6.5-hour flight away, in both November 2022 and January 2023. Every time I come here, it feels like stepping into a completely different world; an almost alien feeling, I always say. Dubai changes monthly, so I'm always amazed too!

Facts and fables about Dubai
The idea still exists sometimes that Dubai is still very conservative and that all ladies there wear veils. Nothing could be further from the truth. You'll feel like you're in a completely Western world! Of course, many ladies and gentlemen still wear traditional clothing, but everyone can dress as they please. Furthermore, Dubai is one of the safest destinations in the world. You don't have to worry about crime, going out in the evening, etc. Dubai is super, super safe (also due to severe penalties for offences)!
Flying from Düsseldorf in Emirates' luxury business class
In November, I travelled with Emirates and had the privilege of flying in the business class of the A380 once again. It's always a treat! This time, departing from Düsseldorf, a conscious choice as we like to check out airports regularly ourselves. Furthermore, fares from Düsseldorf are often a bit more attractive, also for groups! For a group of around 50 people, this often saves a significant amount. The airport is easily accessible and very compact and well-organised. The service, check-in, security and customs also went smoothly.
Worth noting: group or incentive travel to Dubai is now even more attractive for groups. Where the alcohol bill could often be a barrier, because the tax on alcohol was 30% (then the drinks bill can escalate quickly with larger groups), the tax has now been abolished!
